Chip & Pepper Pop-Up

The Bulldogs are back yo! Maybe you thought that irony and early 80s under the guise of vintage were dead? Well you were wrong. The ex-pat Canadian design twins, Chip+Pepper, let the dogs out after a twenty year hibernation. According to them, cheesy is in.
I sat down with the duo Friday night next door to Lileo in the Distillery district of Toronto. Chip and Pepper Foster had flown in for the night and were ready to make their triumphant return worth the red-eye. Sitting on wood beams at the back of the pop-up shop I tried asking the boys some real heavy-hitter questions. But, the pair definitely got the best of me and between fits of laughter, air-kisses, waving and jumping up to say hello to long-lost relatives I tried to smuggle in some form of journalism.
"More beer!" says Chip, as he hops up, "it's my fucking cousins!"
Pepper taps my knee, "Ok, well I'll take over the interview from here sweetie." Chip and Pepper look every part the Cali surfer boy part, just a tad more mature. Clad in their C+P designer denim, and flannel scarves (a nod to their Canadian roots) the two can't stop talking about how great it is to be back, rasta tie-dye, and hardcore LA artists who helped them re-launch their wet gear. And I keep thinking, shit, which one is talking?!

Fashion Safari. Strap on your Ann Demeulemeester mid lace-ups, green drop crotch pants, exquisitely worn saddle bag and a look of adventure. It's the double straps across the chest that kill me actually. Something that screams industry and Tilley hats but touches on the cage and bondage jewellery that just wont die.
